Viva Las Chicas Wakeboard Camp With Robbie Rendo
Argentinian Wakeboarder Robbie Rendo’s been a regular on the UK competition circuit for many years now. A former World and Wakestock Champion, Robbie’s a real pioneer of pushing women’s wakeboarding, coaching women’s clinics for years now and was recently back in her home country hosting her latest chicks session. Here’s how Robbie and the girls got on. Words and pictures by Dan Nott.

“Viva Las Chicas took place in Canal del Este, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Ten girls attended the event, from complete beginners to girls landing their first inverts. The day started early with everyone meeting in the marina at eight. From there we filled the two boats with everyone which included the ten girls, two camera crews and a few other helpers and left for Canal del Este.

We went straight to the house that Lombi kindly lent us for the day and split the girls into two groups. We were lucky enough to have a full day of complete blue sky, but unfortunately the wind wasn’t so kind to us. So for the first ride of the day Robbie managed to find a calm piece of water that isn’t allowed to ride on. After a close call with the police all the girls had ridden once and it was time for lunch. Dan Nott was on the BBQ making hamburgers for everyone!

After a quick lunch, Robbie was straight back in the boat for the second round. Luckily the wind died down in the afternoon so the girls could ride in front of the house. While the first group were out riding Dan Nott put the other 5 girls on a tube and did a close up demo for them.

So after a long day of riding and fun we had enough time to give each girl their goodie bag from Rip Curl and jump back into the boat to the marina before the mosquitos came out. The clinic was a huge success with girls learning their first wake jumps, grabs, 180s, 360s and more.
Robbie would like to thank all the sponsors, Rip Curl, Malibu, Monster energy, Megatlon, and every one that helped make this happen. Robbie would also like to give a special thanks to Lombi for kindly letting us use his house for the day!”
