Ukkohalla Training and relaxing… Wednesday 29 July
It was ‘up early’ for us girls for a private training session to work through last night’s runs and with a 2 carrier gap, we longed for less choppy water than yesterday and hopefully a clearer gauge of how we could expect to ride. The mist over the lake was a beautiful start to the day but chilly, so full suits all round for the last practice before official training tomorrow.
The tension was starting to build as practice opportunities were running out and we all needed to be confident with our runs and all of us had areas we weren’t happy with. Gradually we all became more accustomed to the cable, the kickers and the sliders, getting our runs clear in our minds. But as always, the practice time ran out all too soon and it was impossible to eliminate the chop!!
The food here is nothing short of amazing so what better way to contemplate the training session than over a monster plate of great continental breakfast, head back to the chalet and jump in the sauna! The rain came down soon after, so with rest a priority it was chick flick time and chance to recover violated Facebook accounts!!!
Tor the master of the Facebook ‘rape’ successfully managed to ‘get’ nearly every one of us! We were all very much on guard as profile pics were changed to 90 yr old chroneys with tiaras, accounts changed to Chinese, relationship status’ changed!! Meanwhile, out on the balcony, we all took turns to get our profile shots taken for our sponsors with our ace photographer Alex!! The mug shot exercise soon descended into Sarah and Alex having a little posing session all of their own! The ‘Ladies Masters’ were keen go get pics ready for Granny’s Christmas card and the stories of how we once went to Finland for the Europeans!!
The energy of the team bubbled all day and by evening after another quick ride on the once more, busy and choppy water, we ‘entertained’ ourselves with basketball, ping pong, balance ball basketball and rocking the boat back to the chalet!! The scheming and ‘school trip’ antics were accelerating at a fast pace! In the roasting chalet, we’re all sleeping with one eye open tonight!
