Sheffield Ten Feet High Series 2010 Stop 1

Sophie Cordery continued her 2010 winning form taking the top spot at the first of the Sheffield Ten Feet High tour stops. After her win last week at WakeNBeach in France, she lead the way in demonstrating that the girls are starting the season strong, their tricks bigger than ever, and commanding the stage.

With the sun out and temperatures almost reaching ‘warm’, Sheffield set the scene for the girls to kick start things off nicely for the 5 stop tour. The crowds were treated to an impressive array of air tricks including Front to Fakie, Roll to Blind, and switch backrolls. Nearly every kicker had an invert and the rails were dominated by all the riders clearly illustrating that the girls have been hard at work over the winter. Amongst the usual suspects, two new riders Katie Batchelor and Lisa Birkenhead in her first ever competition, were welcomed and showed great form, as Katie attempted both a raley and scarecrow. Well done girls.

All of the 8 female wakeboarders stepped up their game, local rider Nicola Cox made light work of the wall ride, Jenny Read made effortless work of the monster A frame and Lex Ballandon styled out the fun box.

The three podium winners were most impressive with their air tricks, taking female cable riding to a new level. Third place, Chloe Goudie just went massive on all her raleys and krypts, emphasised by her tiny frame, Kirsteen Mitchell upped the technical factor with switch backrolls and rolls to blind, but Sophie Cordery included Front to fakie, blind Judge and krypts in her run to seal the deal.

We can’t wait to see what these girls will be doing as the season progresses. Make sure you head up to Sheffield for the next stop of the Ten Feet High Series on Sat 19th June. It’s a great way to get involved in the competition circuit. The BBQ is immense as well!
