Women’s Wakeboarding Bank Holiday Weekend!
Maybe the new coalition should consider re-naming the May Bank Holiday weekend! There were chicks sessions galore as the sun came out and the ladies took to the water. We caught up with just a handful of the girls’ sessions going on around the London area.

Thursday – Quays Ladies Night
The weekly Thursday evening boat and System 2.0 session was fully booked down at Quays in Mytchett, Surrey, with riders being turned away! Even the new mum’s at the lake wanted to get in on the action. Armed with Quays mascot Jeffrey the puppy, the girls had a great evening; Nikki got her first toe side wake to wake, Hannah was landing raleys on the System 2.0 and Erica was regularly clearing the wake. Whether Jules’ ‘pumping playlists’ or Charlotte’s newly resurrected inverts after knee surgery were the key, the girls at Quays certainly know how to have fun.

Book early for next Thursday evening to avoid disappointment. Ladies Night at Quays every Thursday evening. Call Quays on 01252 524 375 or see the web site here.

Friday – LDB Chicks Session
LDB’s monthly chicks session was over subscribed this month, but not one to turn anyone away (especially the ladies) LDB based at JBSki Thorpe, Surrey, extended the Chicks session to accommodate all those keen as beans to get out on the water.. bless him!
There was a great mixture of first timers, new riders, established LDB regulars and some dusting off their boards (quite literally). LDB uses the Headzone communication system to really maximise your coaching time. Whilst the helmet isn’t exactly flattering, nor the ‘Britney mic’ for instructing, it really makes a huge difference to your boat time. If you’ve never tried it, head down to see LDB and give it a go.
All the girls rode hard, but notably Julia, a total beginner took to the long line with ease, our own Jacqui, a long established cable monkey, broke her boat ‘cherry’ and was getting lots of pop off the wake, Nikki proved she’s totally addicted having attended the Quays session the day before, and Becky blew off all the cobwebs with a cracking first boat set of the season.
Rachel had a great ride as well, despite the ‘helpful’ boys getting her line in a terrible tangle, as did Mel, upping the ‘grr’ factor and Andre-Anne finding her boat legs after a winter break.
LDB Chicks sessions take place at the end of the month, usually the last Friday. Keep checking WAW for new dates.

Sunday – Box End Ladies Morning
The last Sunday of every month sees the Bedfordshire based cable park open up early for their Ladies Morning session. Despite the chilly start to the day, the girls arrived and dug deep for some demons to be exorcised and grins to take home. Wide-a wake’s Sarah Kingdom and Lex Ballandon were on hand for coaching and as is often the case up at Box End, there was a good mixture of beginners, intermediates and advanced riders all vying for the WAW goodie bag.

Full respect to Kerry from kezvegas and Lauren who didn’t give up and after nearly two hours of dock despair, sailed around the lake victoriously! Lots of stretching appreciated there! At the other end of the scale, Katie worked effortlessly on her raleys getting closer to the magic day! Regular Sue (nominated for a WAW Oscar in Most Inspirational Female category) perfected her dock starts and worked on her surface spins However, we decided that the goodie bag should be awarded to Denise with her 360 claimed.

Thanks to Kezvegas Surfdome, Alliance for their contributions to the WAW goodie bag.
Well done to all the ladies this weekend. Please let us know about your chicks riding experience, by sending your stories, pictures and video to (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) to be included on the website. Keep riding girls!
